I firstly found about this Virginia-based, “eye-challenged” landscaper in a book I’ve read by Larry C. Farrell - “Getting Entrepreneurial!” – one of the most intriguing compilations talking on human potential in life and business.

I’ve read many “self-help” and “business” books, but this one has something apart. I don’t get paid to review books, but your reward for listening to what I’ve learned from this guy that I’ll share with you next, will hopefully payoff!

One of the most appealing stories I’ve found inside “Getting Entrepreneurial!” that changed the way I look at businesses and the potential hiding inside the many individuals, professionals and companies I work with, is one of this “blind” guy named Buel Messer, Messer Landscape, Inc. founder.

Here’s some “background” info on him…

* blind cattle rustler turned landscaping entrepreneur
* started out shoveling snow with his two small boys in the winter of 1980
* eye-sufferer; he can only see with one eye, not being able to use more than just 5% of its full power

Concepts I learned from his inspiring story:

1. There are as many reasons to “condition” yourself to succeed as there are to “block” yourself and fail. Is the “reason” you say to yourself leading you towards your goal, or detracting from it? Why do you want to achieve your goal in the first place? And what is it that you really want? Why?

Buel didn’t let his infirm sight stop him, instead, this “pushed” him into finding new solutions for the challenges he faced with and thinking strategically about his situation.

2. Growth opportunities are found “hidden” in yourself, in your profession, in your company. Stop looking elsewhere. Focus on what you already have. Can you find GOLD nuggets in other people’s garbage? Train yourself to do it!

Everything you want to get or achieve can be found in yourself, for as long as you know what you want, and for as long as you keep asking yourself clear, provoking questions…

Meditate, brainstorm and ask yourself… what are the best, easiest, most enjoyable ways to get what you want, pray if you like it. All this combined helps, as it helped me, and the people I “touch” frequently.

“Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” [Bible: Luke 17:21]

3. No need to get an MBA to run a business or perform in a profession. What you can’t afford to miss on is the knowledge, and the skill sets you need to acquire in other to manage yourself and others and “force” you to achieve your goals.

As Buel said… “You’ve got to make people feel strong about themselves and be motivated. I would say being able to manage people might be the secret to everything”

I can’t recommend enough this book. If you want to hear more, get in touch with me. And we’ll see how to work together and “upload” the strategic thinking and breakthrough methods I use, in your brain, to generate the cash windfalls “hidden” in your profession or business.

Hope this post did more than just inspire you;

I want you to realise and recognize the true human potential and how to implement these concepts in your profession or business. If a blind man can do it, imagine what you can do, in order to unleash your true potential and skill sets!

If you want to share your opinion, or get in touch with me, get heard!

of this interview and read it offline!

Please introduce yourself to our readers…

I’ve been working online and from home for 13 years. My name is Lynn Terry, and I am best known for my candid blog at http://www.ClickNewz.com . I am a Super Affiliate, a seasoned expert at Internet Marketing and a variety of online business models, and am also a single mother to two children. Now teens, they were just 5 months and 5 years old when I started my first business.

When, how and why did you get started with blogging @ ClickNewz.com?

I have been blogging full-time for more than six years. I originally started blogging on blogger.com and then moved to ClickNewz.com and a WordPress platform about 18 months later.

I started the blog to 1) try blogging as a business model and platform, and 2) to share my personal daily finds and challenges with Internet Marketing. In the beginning it was as much the personal journal of an online business owner as anything, but it has grown into a popular Internet Marketing blog with a large readership.

What is your experience with list building so far?

I have over 10 years experience with list-building and email marketing. In the beginning it was easy to build email lists, and many publishers built large (mostly untargeted) mailing lists. Users are more cautious about giving away their email address now than they were then, and publishers are finding that micro-targeted mailing lists work much better than general topic lists.

What are the TOP areas I should concentrate on when building my list first time?

First, you want to make sure you have a good mailing list manager. This is super important when you’re just starting out, as it’s difficult to move a mailing list without losing 90% of your hard-earned subscribers. I use and prefer Aweber, which is the industry leader in mailing list management.

Second, create a targeted topical list. Know exactly who you want to subscribe, and what you are going to offer them in the way of content. Consider your market, and how you can best serve that market. Create an incentive that appeals directly to that market, and keep your mailings on topic as a follow-up to that download.

Do you have a formula for writing subject lines that get opened?

The absolute best thing you can do is split-test subject lines with your list. Every list and every niche is going to be different, and respond to different things, so split-testing subject lines yourself is the only sure bet.

I never, ever use misleading subject lines. While they may get a good open rate (at first) they are deceptive and they create a sense of distrust between you and your reader.

What would you say is the one most important thing you’ve learned about writing openings?

I use specific subject lines that will appeal to the exact person I want to read the email, and I make it personal. Often I will ask a question, or use the word “you” in the subject line.

From there, I open with a personable statement that asks the reader a question, or otherwise draws them into what I want to share in that message. Make it a point to address the reader personally, or use words like “you” and “yours”. Avoid saying “I” or “me” too much, and avoid generalizations like “my subscribers” or “all of you”. ONE person is reading your email.

What about getting clicks?

Getting click-through’s is all about having a strong call-to-action, and one that is a direct match to the expectations you set with your subject line in that email. It starts with the subject line, then the opening, and should end with a highly relevant call-to-action. Don’t just include a link and expect readers to click on it – Tell them what it is, and why they should click on it, and what result to expect when they do (and if they don’t).

So how do you make money with your list[s]?

The best way to make money with your list is to have their best interest in mind at all times. Serving your market. Instead of trying to sell them products all the time, be their niche advocate. Keep your eyes peeled for special offers, coupon codes, deals, exclusive content – something over and above what your competitors are offering. Gain your readers’ trust and interest through these methods, and they will buy from you over anyone else!

Who are you learning from or getting inspiration when it comes to writing your emails?

In most of the niches where I market, I am my target market. Meaning I am a consumer in that market as well. That being the case, I pay special attention to the emails and advertisements, or blog posts and content, that gets my attention. I add that to my personal Swipe File, and use that for inspiration in creating my own high-response content & subject lines.

What are your list building plans for the future? And what do you expect others do once they finish reading your interview?

My plans for the future are to continue to build micro-targeted niche lists, and continue to look for ways to serve those markets. My advice for you, after reading this, is to take a look at what you are doing now and consider ways that you can improve it. And if you haven’t started your own mailing list yet, do it today!

Thank you very much for the great amount of email marketing tips and advice you shared with us today.

We appreciate your insights and invite our readers to comment on the blog and ask any other questions they might have.

Let me begin by saying that I am no expert on list-building and neither am I someone who makes a fortune from internet marketing (not yet at least).

What I’ve Learnt About List-Building and Traffic

In my 2 years since I started with internet marketing and blogging, I have read many resources about many types of marketing on the internet. The majority of ‘gurus’ definitely claim that the real money is in the list. It is always in the list.

Lists give power to build up a relationship with thousands of readers on a very personal level. Best of all, it is totally automated. All the work lies in initially creating a sequence of follow-up messages that will get delivered in regular intervals to anybody who signs up to your list.

A few quick and obvious benefits of building a list are:

Lists are permanent
While Rss feeds are great, if the providers stop their service, then you lose all your readers. A list of email addresses can be exported and saved and its existence will never rely on a 3rd party that could cease to exist at any moment.

Lists are highly-targeted
Usually people who sign up to your list and opt-in are people who are very interested in what you have to offer. This is what makes a list so profitable, because of the fact that your audience is highly targeted to your product / niche and you have a very good potential to sell to them

Lists are re-usable
Imagine for a second that you are selling a product. You set up a site and when a reader lands on your site and your sales pitch is good enough, the visitor is convinced and makes a purchase from you and then leaves your site. The chances are big that this visitor made a once-off purchase and will not return to your site for repeat-business. With a list, you have the opportunity to build a relationship with your subscribers and sell to them over and over again (until they opt out of your list). So, instead of making a once-off sale, you have the opportunity to make multiple sales from a single visitor.

With most websites, large or small, there are always new visitors arriving on your site for the first time. If your site is not exactly what that visitor is looking for or your site is not convincing enough, he will leave. This is in my opinion a waste of a potential customer. You can optimise your traffic by offering an incentive that will make the visitor want to sign up to your list to receive future updates. While this visitor may have left your site on the first visit without buying anything from you, now you have him signed up to your list and you have the possibility of providing him with something that he needs and wants to buy from you.

What Kind Of Incentive?

If I have convinced you to create a list you might be wondering what kind of incentive you should give in order for people to opt in and sign up to your list. While it is not set in stone, you always need to provide some form of value that is going to make your visitor’s life better. Make your promise sound great or over the top exceptional, but be sure to deliver on your promise. This is a good way to win your new subscriber’s trust and respect which in turn opens them up to the idea of buying from you.

Here are a few possible incentives that you could offer in return for your visitor subscribing to your list. You will have to use some of your own common sense and creativity to decide which option would best suit your visitors and your target market.

eBook
An ebook is an awesome incentive for people to sign up to your list. It is the incentive I am personally using for my own list on my blog. The reason why I like this method so much is because it is possible to create a totally fantastic resource (50, 100 or 500 pages) that will provide a lot of value to your visitor. The ebook is timeless and will stay around for a very long time, it can be downloaded and shared amongst many more people than you alone could reach with your own marketing efforts. Besides that fact, you can include affiliate links in your ebook that can result in some very nice commissions on top of the fact that you gain subscribers for your list.

Newsletter
A newsletter is also a popular incentive for people to sign up to lists. This is the promise of a regular email (weekly or even monthly) with extra information that is not to be found on your site. It is not that hard to create 20-50 follow up messages in a newsletter format, but in that case it is always good to remember to make the messages timeless. (Not relating to current events)

X Day Course
Offer a course that will last for x days, broken down into very oversee able portions of knowledge or information

Software Program or Tool
Create or develop some sort of software or tool that is really useful. Then give it away to visitors in return for them signing up to your list. You can either create the tool yourself or you can just outsource it and get a qualified person to do it for you.

Exclusive Access for X Days
People love being part of a special group or getting something for free that others do not have. If you have some sort of membership site or forum, why not allow your visitor access to the membership site for x days in return for them signing up to your list.

The Mindset Of Providing Value

I feel that it is important to mention the correct mindset of building a list.

You are not there to take from your visitor. You are not there to take his money or take his email address and just profiting from him. That is a win-lose scenario.

Always strive to create a win-win situation. You are there to provide value to your subscriber. To provide a good solution for a problem that your visitor has. To provide an opportunity for your visitor to gain and to profit.

You should strive to make your list a mutually beneficial relationship where you give your subscriber what he or she wants and in return he or she pays you for it. (Directly or via a commission).

This is the mindset and approach that will lead to many happy customers that will buy from you on a regular basis. It may not be important to you, but I always think it is good to have correct business ethics. When you create win-win situations you have no guilty conscience to worry about, because you are providing value to your subscribers and they are rewarding you with money.

What are you waiting for? Go ahead and start setting up your system to create a list right away. If you’re not doing this, you are missing out!

Please introduce yourself to our readers…

I’m Anthony, an entrepreneur from Australia. I’m the founder of the productivity startup Task.fm and blog about one of my favorite subjects, lifestyle design, on my blog at Feint.me. I’ve been working on the internet for over 7 years.

When, how and why did you get started with blogging @ Feint.me?

The blog was started towards the end of 2008 as just a personal journal, a place where I could post my thoughts on the internet and technology. Much of the early content on the blog was rubbish, and it took me until about a year ago to really hit the mark and build a following. I didn’t actually think I would make money from it. But as time went on, I realised the blog had huge potential to generate some extra money and also build a brand I could use to promote my startup.

How long did it take you to get you to where you are now, and what would you say to our readers who are already tired and frustrated of not seeing any results from their blogging?

I actually started building websites when I was just 13 years of age. I made a lot of mistakes back then, but thats all part of the process of learning. “Time” really is a powerful tool. I’ve found that in my niche, most people only last for around 1-2 years at the most. If you can stick it out and keep hustling, and push past that 2 year mark, you have a much greater chance at success. I didn’t make any money from blogging for around the first year, so time is definitely the key.

What are the TOP areas I should concentrate on when blogging?

Content really is king. But more importantly, the right content is king. Finding “your voice” in blogging is really important. Don’t fall into the trap of copying someone elses voice and content. People can only take so much of the same regurgitated content that is reworded all over the blogosphere. I like to blog using my own personal experiences. This way, its guaranteed to be unique.

Do you have a formula for attracting traffic to Feint.me?

My formula is very simple. Write an article, share it on Twitter and respond to any comments. 90% of my traffic comes from Twitter. I also submit the odd article to a couple of niche social bookmarking sites. The right article can attract over 4000 unique visitors (and paying customers!). I don’t have any complex traffic formulas. I try and focus on the content first, my twitter network second and then do occasional article marketing, forums posts etc.

What would you say is the one most important thing you’ve learned about affiliate blogging?

“Time” is a very important tool. The longer you blog the easier it becomes. Don’t get me wrong, you can earn money from a blog within a few weeks. But new bloggers will usually have little success early on. Stick with, try things, and most importantly, collect data. Don’t listen to me – instead use your own data to form the basis of your blogging venture.

What’s the biggest mistake you made getting started in affiliate blogging?

I have a habit of selling blogs rather than holding onto them. Its tempting to sell a blog for a nice hunk of cash. But in reality, its much easier to hold onto a blog than keep building new ones. That being said, I definately reccomend building and flipping affiliate blogs. Just make sure you keep a home base as the cornerstone to your business.

So how do you make money online with your blog?

80% of revenue doesn’t come from affiliate sales. At the bottom of each post, I place a banner which links to my startup, Task.fm. This banner converts extrememly well. The other 20% of revenue comes from affiliate sales and from selling my ebook Flipped. I have setup targeted affiliate pages such as this one http://feint.me/blogging – which usually averages 1-2 affiliate signups or sales a day.

What else?

As I mentioned before, I run a startup called Task.fm. This is my big earner. Affiliate sales generate a nice passive income, but I have a lot more fun building this app. I’m in it for the long run, and its shaping up as a valuable asset.

I also run a number of affiliate sites and still build the odd blog that I build solely for the purpose of flipping.

What role does your blog roll play? And what do you expect others do once they finish reading your interview?

In the grand scheme of things, my blog is just a small part in a grander business vision I have. It provides a central place to build a brand. But I think, in order to create a decent income, you need multiple sites.

After reading this interview, the first thing I think people should do, is break down and plan out exactly how much they would like to earn each month, otherwise known as your target monthly income. I then take this and break it into a target daily income. Its this figure I work towards each day. Its amazing how simple and clear online business becomes when you do this.

Thank you for sharing your blogging advice with us.

P.S. If you have any questions or suggestions on today’s interview, comment below [I want to hear from you]…

of this interview and read it offline!

I’m a lifelong newspaperman and have spent almost my entire professional career working for business journals, and the last 17 years with American City Business Journals, publisher of 40 business journals across the United States.

When, how and why did you get started with blogging @ MikeConsol.com?

After being laid off because of the economic slump I decided to start my own corporate training and Social Media strategies practice. The core of any good Social Media program is a blog.

How long did it take you to get you to where you are now, and what would you say to our readers who are already tired and frustrated of not seeing any results from their blogging?

I always tell people to not expect results for at least six months, and a year is probably more realistic. The truth is I started to see results in just three months of blogging twice a week. Those results came in the form of feedback from people I didn’t know and improving search results. For example, when I Google my name the first result that shows up is my website; the second result is my blog. It didn’t used to be that way. Before my LinkedIn profile was the first result.

What are the TOP areas I should concentrate on when blogging?

1)	Make sure you blog is integrated into your website, not separate. (I know many people operate blogs only that look like websites. That’s fine.)

2)	Blog at least twice a week to get real results.

3)	Make sure your blog posts offer value to readers or you won’t accumulate an audience.

Do you have a formula for attracting traffic to MikeConsol.com ?

1)	Create accounts at 20 or more Social Media sites to distribute your blog postings and drive traffic. Don’t just go with Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. There are dozens more and you can hit them in one fell swoop by creating an account at Ping.fm.

2)	Join the appropriate LinkedIn groups and seed them with your blog postings. I find this to be most powerful.

3)	For your longer posts, 500 words or more, post them to magazine sites such a iSnare and ezinearticles. This gets you wider distribution.

4)	If you have the time, post comments on other blogs, ones that are similar to yours. If you make smart comments people will visit your blog to see what you have to say.

What would you say is the one most important thing you’ve learned about blogging?

When you shine light on others they will shine light back on you. Blogging is not a zero-sum game. Direct your readers to other great content and they’ll come back to you for more.

What’s the biggest mistake you made getting started in blogging?

When I first started uploading my blog posts to magazine sites like iSnare, ezinearticles and Article Dashboard, I was posting the exact same article as appeared on my blog. This was a mistake. Be sure to change your article so it’s not an exact replicate of what’s on your blog or Google might not give your blog credit as the original source. I simply add one new sentence to each paragraph for the magazine version of my blog postings.

So how do you make money online with your blog?

I offer corporate training and Social Media strategies, so when people discover me it gives me a chance to turn them into clients.

Who are your favorite bloggers and why?

Seth Godin, because his stuff is short, frequent and insightful.

What are your blogging plans for the near future? And what do you expect others do once they finish reading your interview?

Keep on keeping on. Blogging is for the long haul. I expect to keep coming up with subjects of value to my readers and deliver them in an easily digestible format. My expectation of others is to learn from what I do – and to learn from many other bloggers, just as I have.

Thank you for sharing your blogging advice with us.

If you’re confused about niche marketing and don’t know where to start follow these 3 quick steps. I promise you’ll find your niche.

Before we dive in I have to warn you about two niche marketing mistakes 90% of the newbies out there fall into.

Niche Marketing Mistake #1

Select the niche others suggest them to embrace

I’ve read countless books and tested close to a hundred info products on niche marketing and all come to one conclusion – select a market you’re passionate about.

That’s why you should never embrace a niche you don’t like just because others claim there’s money to be made in that particular industry.

Niche Marketing Mistake #2

Select a niche with few competitors

That’s BS advice! No offense, but if I were in a niche where I would not be able to team up with others and do joint ventures, ad swaps, cross-promos, guest blog posting, barters and other forms of associations, my business would die sooner than you’d think.

Want to find your Internet niche market? Take these steps now before it is too late:

Step #1

What is your hobby?

What is it that you’d enjoy doing for the next 3, 6 and even 12 months even if you weren’t get paid to do it?

That’s your niche! With a little research on Amazon.com [e.g. in the books and magazines section], you’d find that even the most obscure niches are lucrative, whether you believe it or not at the moment!

Step #2

What is your skill?

If you don’t have a hobby, you need to have a particular skill or talent, technical, creative or whatever.

Do you like writing? Do you do graphic design? Do you enjoy playing tennis? Do you know how to trade Forex?

Whatever is it that you enjoy, you’d be considered an expert if you start teaching others to achieve similar results as you did. No need for a diploma, or degree, unless you’re planning to get in the law or accounting niche, which is a real profession!

Step #3

What do you like reading about?

Some of the top experts and consultants out there were self-made. They did not get any school lessons but gather their knowledge from reading books and applying the information.

What is it that you enjoy to read that others would pay with their attention and money to know?

There you have it. 3 quick steps to finding your niche market.

Do you have any questions for me before you start? Post them in the comments section [right below]

The problem with bum marketing is that most people have no clue what it really is, or how to use it, or – more importantly – WHY to use it.

WHAT bum marketing means

This is a free promotion method used to promote other people’s products [aka affiliate products or services such as ClickBank, Commission Junction, AdSense, CPA, etc]

Its core basis is article marketing – writing and publishing content on sites such as EzineArticles dot com , as well as on other platforms, blogs and forums.

HOW to use bum marketing

The pro bum marketers are using this method to get direct traffic from links in their content, as well as to rank in Google and other search engines.

This method is also used to direct traffic directly to the merchant site [program you're promoting] or straight to your landing page, if you want to build your own list and generate more money, month after month.

WHY to use bum marketing

The best in the field are using this method to either to drive all the traffic to their link and bank fat affiliate checks or build massive lists which in turn generate lots of traffic, clicks and sales, each and every month.

Which method would you select?

If you want to get fast cash, and don’t care for long-term profits, your best option would be to send traffic straight to the vendor’s page [the link you're promoting] This doesn’t mean you have to spam people or advertise everywhere, but match your content with the right crowd [niche] and link to the affiliate product ONLY at the bottom [in your resource box].

If we’re talking about the biggest bum marketing mistake and why most people fail with this method it is because they neglect this simple yet crucial step.

If I had to give you just one tip for today, I’d tell you to include links in your resource box only [author bio] and focus your article on providing good content.

The best articles tend to get the most views and clicks. Aim for that, and getting results will not be a problem anymore.

These list building tips work for mailing list owners only… Are your email sales down instead of rising through the roof?

Today’s article shows you a simple way to get credibility that jumps your sales.

First of all, credibility is not important, but crucial! Most list owners are barely making a few dollars just to cover their autoresponder cost…

Why is that? Because their credibility is ZERO. Or even worse, they’ve damaged it by promoting hype products or stuff their readers don’t want.

I think you know those “marketers”… they all have something in common… an addiction to push the button and mail their list nothing but GARBAGE.

All day long… one email after another… desperate to “steal” other people’s hard-earned money.

I’m sure you’ve subscribed to at least one of these folks. Are you still on their list? I suggest you do NOT unsubscribe yet. WHY? Because you can learn exactly what NOT to do when mailing your list!

Now… would you like to get credibility that jumps sales? Would getting “legal” money from your mailings make you happy?

Then you have to forget about you – forget about your interest, and put your readers interest at heart! Ask them what they want; interact with your list as there’s only one subscriber that your business depends on. Don’t look at your list as numbers. That’s the biggest mistake one can make.

Secondly, credibility is what drives sales. Would you buy from someone you don’t trust? The answer is “NO”, unless the product is what you desperately want, and don’t really care who sells it [but that's an exception]

Credibility is what you build and grow in a lifetime. Credibility is your reputation. And vice versa.

“It takes a lifetime to build a good reputation, but you can lose it in a minute.” — Will Rogers, American actor and comedian

The easiest way to get credibility that jumps sales is to be, look and feel HONEST. There’s no other way around it. The marketers we see making a bunch of money on the Internet through their mailing lists are either genuine or liars. They take good care of their subscribers or themselves.

The question is: which one are you? You have the power to decide! Never forget about this…

In previous parts we talked about preparing your business plan and selecting your blog platform.

Today we cover the final chapter which enables “anybody” master full speed blogging.

Once you have the game plan ready and the right blogging platform, it is time for the third step – learn the new rules of blogging.

This is where most bloggers get it wrong. They have their business running smoothly, they know the game plan, but forgot completely to adapt it to the new rules.

Did you ever have the feeling you’re going in the right direction only to find minutes later you were actually walking in the opposite road? It did happen to me, it did happen to others.

What makes the difference? Why is it that some bloggers are able to take the right route, while others walk down the wrong pathway?

Why is it that some bloggers always find the gateway to profit, while the rest are still digging for gold?

Is it because they’re smart? Is it because they got lucky? I think none of these answers are true.

American actor and comedian, Will Rogers, said “When you find yourself in a hole, quit digging.” If you find you’ve reached a point where there’s no other option, ask for HELP!

If you don’t know how to do something, or more importantly, what to do next, ask for someone who did it!

Most bloggers would try to get advice from forums. Others will ask their friends. The sad part is that none of these methods work in real life. You need expert help from someone who’s been there, done that.

NEVER get blogging advice from someone who has never blogged at full speed, never!

As American comedian – Bill Cosby – said “You know the only people who are always sure about the proper way to raise children? Those who’ve never had any.”

Do you really want to learn blogging? Team up with someone who knows the rules of the game and is constantly adapting to the new rules of pro blogging.

Do you know of another option?

Want to drive your blog at full speed?

Download our Niche Blogging Profits guide.

P.S. Tomorrow I have a new post for you, stay tuned.
