Paying for Targeted Traffic – They Still Don’t Get It

May 19th, 2008 · 5 Comments · Other Topics

There is some debate among Gurus and newbies about the best way to get targeted traffic to a site or blog.

For example, Rosalind Gardner prefers AdWords and she teaches her blog readers about it at Net Profits Today.

I don’t know about you, but I prefer to avoid paying for any traffic to make money online.

Here’s why:

  • I’ve tested AdWords, ezine advertising, FFA advertising, banner exchange, and even some guaranteed traffic packages (e.g. “get 10,000 visitors for just a one-time $50 fee”) – which is the worst scam you could fall for.

And the conclusion is this:

Paid advertising is for Google and similar companies with BIG advertising budgets who want to throw their products in the crowd and use the ‘trigger’ method, shot, hit or miss.

When you’re paying for advertising you’re shoting in the dark, most of the times.

Moreover, when you’re paying for advertising you’re risking not only your money, but also time, effort and energy trying to solve the lack of traffic problem and learning whatever method you’re using to attract more traffic.

If it’s Google AdWords, you have to learn how to use it. This takes days, weeks, months and for some even years. You spend time, effort and energy, then the worst part is coming.

You need to pay for using Adwords (or whatever you’re utilising) – since paid advertising it is what it is. There’s no way you could get away with it for free.

There is some debate among AdWords experts about the best way to use it, and I’m not dealing with Google AdWords on this blog at all, so let me share with you what I consider to be the BEST targeted traffic strategy which provides INSTANT and LONG-TERM traffic, at no cost.

The best part is that this traffic is what makes money, real money. Yes, it’s viral traffic which produces long-term effects and brings greater results than AdWords, or any other form of paid advertising which I’ve tested (e.g. ezine advertising, FFA advertising, banner exchange, and guaranteed traffic packages).

The strategy which I frequently use (daily) and I recommend to all my clients is called blog commenting.

    Hey Codrut,

Although blog commenting is definitely an effective strategy to attract some targeted traffic to your site, I must disagree with your statement that using Google Adwords “is for Google and similar companies with BIG advertising budgets”.

I’ve been using PPC for 10 years, and started out by re-investing a portion of my site’s earnings into ppc advertising campaigns, building them up to between 30 and 50K/month income sites.

That method is considerably less work than building a 50K blog by garnering a couple of readers a day through blog comments. :-)

Moreover, I teach multiple methods of marketing including PPC, email, article and more.

    Cheers,
    Ros

#Ros – Thx for stopping by..

I think it’s ok to argue as everybody have different opinions and I’m an advocate of freedom of speech.

And when it comes AdWords, you’re either love it or hate it.

The regular guy probably hates it more than big advertising companies because of lack of a big advertising budget.

Trust me on this one – if a newbie starts with AdWords in 99% of all cases, they’ll end up investing a ton of money, and get little in return.

Thus starting with blog commenting is the smartest thing to do – avoid paying for advertising and start making money online, at no cost, just put in some time & effort.
