DreamHost vs HostGator
DreamHost has a much easier interface to use. I enjoy their dashboard vs HostGator’s Cpanel.
I am also a fan of DreamHost’s one-click install (in house) – it looks (and is) much better than HostGator’s Fantastico option (I guess Drupal fans need cPanel).
Moreover: I noticed DreamHost is quick to update to the latest WordPress version, while Fantastico takes weeks, sometimes months.
HostGator has something that DreamHost doesn’t: an easy site builder, that comes free with any of their hosting packs.
What I Don’t Like
I won’t bash any of the hosting services. I wished though DreamHost had a dedicated support team for WordPress users and HostGator be more flexible like make their cPanel/dashboard easier to use.
Uptime Guarantee
HostGator claims to offer 99.9%, while DreamHost 100%. That’s what they guarantee but if you install a blog on their host and you exceed the minimum RAM memory, you actually risk of having your blog frozen until you “re-start” it (it happened to me many times).
I consider to get a dedicated server soon for this reason as my blog traffic increases on a daily basis and hate to see my blog go down for hours…
